Fingerprints of Change: Abisko Plants and Phenology
Would you like to learn about the effects of climate change on arctic and alpine mountain environments? Are you interested in arctic and alpine plant species and their ecology?
We are looking for interns from 1st May to 31st October to join our research team studying a century of change in plant communities and their phenology in Abisko National Park.
In the spring you will encounter excellent skiing and snow shoeing. During the summer the midnight sun affords infinite time for hiking and exploring the natural landscape of the Swedish fell. Autumn is the time the darkness returns ushering in the spectacular autumn colours, blueberries, and the northern lights. The work can be strenuous with long hikes and days carrying a backpack. But if you seek an adventure in one of the wildest parts of Europe, then join us!
Requirements
Interns must commit to at least two months (60 days) to secure funding from the Erasmus Plus student trainee program. All interns must qualify and apply for the Erasmus Plus program to cover the costs of transportation to and from Abisko, housing at the Research Station and living expenses. Please contact your home university Erasmus coordinator in advance. All you need to bring is a good level of fitness to climb the mountain and resilience to the changing weather conditions in this arctic environment. If you are interested in joining us, please send us your CV and a short motivation letter with at least one reference. You must provide proof of health insurance.
If you have any questions, just get in touch with us!
