I am supporting the research team of the project ‘Year-round climate feedbacks of winter phenological (mis)matches of plants and microbes across the Arctic’ at CIRC in technical issues, lab analyses, field work as well as data handling and logistics.

Karl Heuchel joins the CIRC team in Abisko in 2022 as a Research Engineer.

I am an ecologist and biochemist with a strong interest in northern ecosystems and their responses to climate change. I have been working on geothermally warmed ecosystems in Iceland, unraveling natural long-term warming effects on the ecosystem C and N cycle and on plant physiology.
